Frequently Asked Questions
I know that planning a photography session can come with lots of questions, and I’m here to make the process as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Below, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions about my sessions, from what to wear to how to prepare. If you don’t see what you’re looking for or have any other queries, feel free to reach out—I’m always happy to help!
What should we wear to our session?
Wear what makes you feel comfortable and confident! Soft, neutral tones often work best for creating a timeless feel, and coordinating (but not matching) outfits can add a cohesive look to family sessions. I like to suggest to try to stay clear of busy prints and bright logos.
I have access to a client wardrobe too! So if you are stuck for ideas please get in touch and we can discuss your options
How long will the session last?
Sessions vary depending on the type of session you have booked. Typically sessions last between 1-2 hours, allowing plenty of time for everyone to settle in and feel at ease. For newborn sessions, I understand that breaks might be needed for feeding or soothing, so we take our time to ensure a relaxed experience, these go for 2-3hours.
When will we receive our photos?
I know how excited you’ll be to see your images! You can expect your beautifully edited gallery within 2-3 weeks after your session, with a sneak peek available sooner so you can enjoy a few highlights.
Do you offer location suggestions for sessions?
Absolutely! I have a list of beautiful outdoor spots that offer stunning backdrops, but I’m also open to places that are special to you. Whether it’s a cozy spot at home or a favorite park, let’s find the perfect setting together.
What if the weather isn't great on the day of our session?
Don’t worry! I always keep an eye on the forecast and will touch base if we need to reschedule. Moody skies are often my faves and add such a beautiful element to your images. If it pours we will have to postpone. If your children are sick (not just a cold) we will have to postpone. If I am unwell we will also have to postpone.
Can we bring pets to the session?
Yes, pets are a part of the family too, and I love capturing those moments! Just let me know ahead of time so we can plan for their inclusion, and we’ll make sure they feel right at home in the photos.
How should we prepare for our newborn session?
For newborn sessions, it’s best to keep the environment warm and relaxed. I usually recommend we do these in the comfort of your own home with a few favorite blankets or outfits on hand. I’ll bring some props and wraps too, and we’ll take the lead from your baby’s needs, capturing those sweet, natural moments as they come.
Do you offer digital and print options?
Yes! Your session includes a digital gallery for you to download and share with family and friends. I also offer a range of beautiful print options and albums if you’d like to create lasting keepsakes to display at home.
How do we book a session?
Booking is easy! Just reach out through my contact page, and we’ll chat about your vision, availability, and any questions you have. Once we’ve locked in a date, I’ll send over the details and get everything set for your session.
Where are you based?
I am based in the Sutherland Shire, and I include 45minutes of travel time in my session fee. However I love exploring new areas, so if you are from further afield, I just ask you to pay a small travel fee.
How do you accept payment?
A $200 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of your booking. The remainder is due 2 days prior to our session via bank transfer.
What happens during a shoot?
I like to take a documentary approach when I shoot, so usually the first half hour of the session is me following you around getting to know you a little and letting the kids (if any are involved) play and explore. While I’m not an overly posey photographer, I will guide you and give you some gentle direction and prompts so you aren’t left completely stranded wondering what to do with your hands! We will continue to move around using a variety of Mother Nature’s backdrops and making the most of the perfect light as it changes throughout the session.
